It is the second All-Ireland Title in quick succession for Jamie Murray and Martin Raftery who make up half the team with Donal Wrynn and Leo Logan completing the line-up.
Fenagh entered the Semi-Final with Donal Wrynn carrying a recurring hip injury and to confound things Martin Raftery picked up an injury in his first game in the Semi-Final.
Hospital Co.Limerick was the opposition in the Semi-Final on Saturday morning with Donal Wrynn up first against JP O'Connor. Wrynn was defeated 21-14, 21-8. Next up was the Doubles pairing of Leo Logan and Jamie Murray taking on Seamus Donovan and John Ryan. The Hospital lads buoyed on from the victory in the first match put the first game out of the reach of Logan and Murray on a score line of 21-13. Logan and Murray were under sever pressure as the next game was a must win for them to stay in contention for the final. With the greater experience and composure the Fenagh pair took control of the second game and eased to victory 21-4 to set up a massive battle for the third match.
Martin Raftery took on Ken Burke in the final match with Fenagh trailing on a score line of 67-56. It was a blistering game with Raftery injuring a finger. He was unlucky to be defeated by a single ace 21-20. With everything to play for in the last game Raftery showed his superiority and eased to victory on a score line of 21-3 leaving Fenagh victorious 97-91 and in their first ever All-Ireland Final.
The Final was played on Saturday evening with Garryhill Co. Carlow the opposition.

Donal Wrynn was last man up taking on Danial Fenlon with Fenagh in a very strong position. Wrynn made sure of victory and won by 21-10. The last game hadn't to be played as Fenagh had a 40 point lead, finishing 104-64 and sparking off wild celebrations.

IRISH 40X20 NATIONAL FINALS

The finals of the 40x20 juvenile nationals took place last week-end in venues in Kilkenny. Fenagh Handball Club had two players who reached the latter stages of the competition Aaron Scollan u15B and Donal Wrynn u17A. Scollan defeated Donal Egan (Roscommon) and Ryan Cody (Galway) in rounds 1 and 2  and reached the quarter final defeating Niall Shinners (Tipperary) in a very tight and exciting Round 3 match 6-15,15-14,11-10. He then went on to meet Jake Kearney (Clare) where he was defeated 6-15,10-15. This is great progress for Aaron who was knocked out in the first round of this competition last year.

Donal Wrynn reached the Final defeating Gabhain McCrystall (Tyrone) 21-5, 21-17, Pa Herlihy (Cork) in the quarter final and Niall Bolton (Clare) 21-7, 21-8 in the semi-final setting the scene for a massive final against Colin Crehan (Clare).

In the final, Wrynn enjoyed a fantastic start and the power and shooting exhibited by the 6'3" Fenagh teenager saw him storm to a 7-1 lead but some brilliant rallies with terrific retrieving from Crehan then saw them deadlocked at 10-10. From there it was Crehan who seized the initiative and he ran out a winner 21-15, with one particular underage kill from the back left corner near the end of the game from the Clare player really thrilling the crowd. Wrynn again had a big start in the second game and he opened up a 14-8 lead  before Crehan produced a series of defining touches to win 11 of the next 12 aces and edge ahead by 19-15. From there he went on to secure a win 21-16 shattering Wrynn's hopes of a National Title.

______________________________________________
Fenagh Handball Club,"Connacht Club of the Year 2009" is a dynamic and vibrant GAA Handball club situated in the heart of the south Leitrim countryside. It is a club which is deeply integrated into the local community and is gaining a reputation as a central meeting point and preferred competition venue for many senior 60x30 players throughout the West & Northwest regions of Ireland.

The club provides a comprehensive juvenile and adult coaching regime. Historically the club has achieved significant competitive success at County, Provincial and National levels in both handball codes. During 2009 this competitive success was crowned with a U15 one wall world handball title.
The initial fabric of our alley was constructed in 1912. Originally a one wall configuration, it was later converted into a three wall 60x30 structure, in 1954. Further upgrades to the alley were completed in 1991 with the final phase of development represented by the building you see today. Completed in July 2008 our new indoor alley provides lighting, a high spec playing surface and a glass back wall with provision for a viewing area and changing rooms.

Indeed the ability to provide year round coaching and competitions has seen a huge influx of local juvenile players. Our primary objective is to ensure that these players enjoy the game of handball in each age group and at all levels of ability. Our club aims to develop an inclusive and competitive culture which we believe will form the foundation for the future development of the game in the area, leading to even greater competitive success for the club.

Over the coming weeks and months we plan to increase the amount of information on this site, not only to cover the history and plans for the club, but to make it THE place to come for training, competition information, results and indeed to provide a portal for our members to the wider Handball community and GAA activities.

Paul Brady.
On Friday evening  23rd April Paul Brady, All Ireland Senior 40x20 handball Champion, provided coaching to a group of students from Ballinamore PPS in Fenagh handaball alley. Paul, who is currently training to be a teacher, was on a weeks work experience in Ballinamore Secondary School last week. The session was organised by school principle Padraig Leydon and provided his students with an opportunity to gain some valuable tips and advice from a player of national prominence. On the same theme GAA handball plan to implement a national development plan commencing in October this year, consisting of structured coaching sessions around the country targeted at national school level, again facilitated by prominent players like Paul Brady.
